Acid Reflux Disease Medicines: Choose ZEGERID
ZEGERID is an immediate-release PPI that provides long-lasting acid control
If you want an effective treatment for heartburn and acid reflux disease symptoms due to acid reflux, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), which helps reduce the amount of acid produced by the cells in your stomach, may be an option for you.
How acid reflux disease and heartburn medicines work
Special acid-producing cells in the lining of the stomach contain pumps (proton pumps) that release acid into the stomach as part of digestion. With each dose, the heartburn medicine in a PPI gets into the bloodstream and attaches to some of these pumps, blocking the release of acid. Once a pump is blocked by the medicines in a PPI, it is "turned off" and can no longer release acid, providing effective heartburn treatment. By turning off the pumps, the PPI helps reduce the amount of acid being produced in your stomach, providing acid reflux symptom relief.
ZEGERID is a proton pump inhibitor, which is a medicine used to treat GERD symptoms.
People who are taking multiple daily doses of proton pump inhibitor medicines for a long period of time may have an increased risk of fractures of the hip, wrist, or spine.
