Acid Reflux Disease – Long-Term Complications

Treat symptoms now - before erosive esophagitis develops

Stomach acid belongs in the stomach. When the acid gets into other places in the body, trouble happens. The trouble can be immediate—such as heartburn—or take more time to develop and be more serious, such as the condition known as erosive esophagitis.

ZEGERID controls the amount of acid in your stomach. By doing this, ZEGERID treats the symptoms of acid reflux disease—both short- and long-term.

With treatment erosive esophagitis can be healed

When stomach acid frequently refluxes or washes back into the esophagus, the tissue that lines the esophagus may eventually develop inflammation, erosions and bleeding. Erosive esophagitis symptoms are not always clearly defined. Therefore, only a doctor can tell you for sure if you have erosive esophagitis. He or she may use a device called an endoscope to look down your throat to diagnose whether or not you have erosive esophagitis.

In addition to treating the heartburn of acid reflux disease, ZEGERID works as an erosive esophagitis treatment. ZEGERID typically heals erosive esophagitis in 4 to 8 weeks. By controlling acid, ZEGERID keeps the tissue in the esophagus healthy once it has healed.
